Open Letter from Professor Tim Brighouse, Patron of Move4words Community Interest Company

To Headteachers and other educationalists

I would like to recommend to you the new Move4words programme for consideration by your school or consortium. This is a radical new approach to improving attention and learning, using physical, visual and auditory classroom exercises. I am impressed and so I became a patron of the not-for-profit Community Interest Company, which was run by Dr Elizabeth McClelland, the developer of the Move4words method.

Over the past few years, I have seen this exciting and radically new idea develop into a highly cost-effective, teacher and child-friendly classroom method which is easy to use and has most impressive results. I would like to encourage you to take a few minutes to read the research evidence and feedback on this website about the outcomes of schools trials of Move4words on literacy, behaviour and concentration.

I am hugely impressed with the technique, and the philosophy and approach.

I would like to emphasise that there is no need to change your teaching strategies to include Move4words. Move4words simply enhances the effects of whatever you are doing already.

Elizabeth is a completely altruistic person which is why she has established this Community Interest Company who’s ‘not for profit’ status is assured by Government Regulation. I have no financial connection at all other than to give support to a venture which I am confident is well-founded and will make a positive difference.

Yours sincerely

Professor Tim Brighouse

Formerly London Schools Commissioner (2002 - 2007) and Professor of Education at Keele University (1989–1993)
